Folks, Anyone have a suggested successful dosages for melatonin? It's available in 1, 2, 2.5 & 5 mg capsules & tables.I know there is an extended release version as well. How about a brand?

Thanks,
Pete

My dad tried melotonin, and it made his hd symptoms much worse. I've been wondering for awhile how Laura made out with meds, and how she's doing now? It sounds like there's still sleep problems?

My husband and I both take melatonin and it helps us get a good nignts sleep without waking up as much through the night. We get ours on line at swansonvitamins.com - it is very inexpensive. We use the dual-release tablets 3mg along with an additonal 3mg capsule. We have experimented for a couple of months and this seems to be a good dosage for us. Hope this helps

I just wanted to give an update on the meds since i haven't posted in awhile.
The celexa was making me anxiouse and making my sleep worse so I went off it.
The ativan which I first tried gave me weird side affects so I didn't stick with it.
Then I was given trazodone for sleep but I read some scary reactions to it on the forum so I ve been afaid to try it!
So yes I am still having sleep probelem now even worse than before
so I'm afraid the celexa might still be in my system.
Laura

Hey Laura, i'm sorry you're still having trouble sleeping. I did a quick search on trazadone, and seriously, it doesnt seem to have many possible side effects at all compared to some meds. Why don't you just give it a try? Try it for one week and see how you feel. It prob hurts more not to try it, than to give it a try. I think maybe you are like me, i'm not able to take any ssri's, i have a very agitated hyper reaction to them.

I am very sickly and thin and with the never getting the right sleep
I think I am a wreck. I definately am in a serious autoimmune condition right now and so I worry that someone like me will respond badly to any med.
I dont know maybe your right and I could try...

Hi,

My son took melatonin but not the over the counter one. It had to be especially made up and delivered to us, only certain people can do it. Whether it helped with his sleep I don't know, it seems with JHD or HD nothing helps with sleep.

My husband always for years has complained about how he didn't get much sleep and I wonder if it's the movements and the yelling while asleep that made him wake up tired. I had this problem for years and never got to the bottom of it.

I hope you find something that helps.

Debbie
